Paul Colin, an accomplished Deco poster artist, is most famous for his fluid style . He was able to capture the novelty and excitement of the Jazz Age in Paris.

Colin was the entertainer, Josephine Baker’s lover and life-long friend. It was through his association with Baker that his career took off. The Deco poster that he created to advertise her La Revue Negre in 1927 marks the beginning of his renown. He also published Le Tumulte Noir (the Black Craze) a series of drawings depicting the essence and glamour of the Parisian Jazz Nightlife.

During his life time, Colin designed well over 1200 posters. He also did set and costume designs for both French and American movies as well as serving as a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival.
